Tax rebate for recruiting third gender people

Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has proposed enacting special tax incentives for the employers who will employ 10 per cent of their total workforce or more than 100 workers from third gender community.

The decision has been taken to raise living standards and ensure socio-economic integration of the people of third gender community, the finance minister said while addressing budget session in parliament on Thursday.

“Provision of tax rebate, amounting to 75 per cent of the total salary paid to the workers from the third gender or 5 per cent of payable tax, whichever is lower, to the employers who will employ 10 per cent of their total work force or more than 100 workers of the third gender, has been placed for the approval of this august parliament,” AHM Mustafa Kamal said.

The finance minister also proposed to increase the tax-free ceiling of the third gender individuals by Tk 50,000 from existing Tk 350,000.

“With a view to achieving social inclusion of the third gender, besides introducing a special provision, I propose to fix the tax-free ceiling at Taka 350,000 for this community,” the finance minister added.
