Two more persons have been diagnosed positive for the coronavirus infection, taking the number of COVID-19 cases in the country to five.

Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) director Meerjady Sabrina Flora confirmed this on Saturday.

The two who were found to be infected with the disease had travel history; she said, adding that one came back home recently from Germany and the other from Italy.

Earlier on 8 March, IEDCR said that three people were found infected with novel coronavirus in Bangladesh.

"Two of them recovered earlier. One of the two recovered patients returned home. No coronavirus germs were found in the blood test of the remaining patient. Following World Health Organisation’s protocol we’ll conduct a second test on the person. The person will be announced coronavirus-free if the test results show negative," Meerjady Sabrina said earlier in the day.

The IEDCR also said nine people have been kept isolated at different hospitals until now.
