Ramadan begins Friday

The month of holy Ramadan begins on Friday as the moon was not sighed in the sky across the country on Wednesday.

Islamic Foundation said this in a press release on Wednesday evening.

Prior to this, a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee was held at conference room of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka at 6:00pm.

After the meeting, Islamic Foundation assistant public relation officer Shaila Sharmin told Prthom Alo the moon was not sighted anywhere in the sky of the country. So, the month of Ramadan will begin on Friday and the holy Shab-E-Qadr will be observed on night of April 18, she added.

State minister for religious affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan presided over the meeting while members of the committee and Islamic Foundation officials were present.
