Zafrullah Chowdhury calls half-day strike on 28 March

Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury called a nationwide half-day hartal on 28 March protesting against the price hike of essentials.

He came up with this announcement on Friday evening at a press conference in Dhanmondi of Dhaka. Earlier on the day, Left Democratic Alliance also called a 6-hours strike on the same day.

Dr Zafrullah demanded bringing down the prices of essentials to the people's purchasing capacity, introducing rationing system for 20 million poor families and adopting strict action against the hoarders.

Urging day labourers not to go out for work, he said all the people, irrespective of political identities, should observe the hartal to attract government attention over the issue of price hike.
