Govt to procure 300,000 tonnes paddy, 500,000 tonnes rice

The government will procure 300,000 tonnes of Aman paddy and 500,000 tonnes of parboil rice at Tk 28 and Tk 42 per kg respectively.

Following a meeting at the secretariat in Dhaka, the food minister, Sadhan Chandra Majumder, came up with this disclosure on Tuesday.

Agricultural minister Abdur Razzaque, commerce minister Tipu Munshi, health minister Zahid Maleque and state minister for disaster and relief Md Enamur Rahman were present at the event.

Sadhan Chandra Majumder said the government has fixed the price of Aman paddy at Tk 28 per kg and rice at Tk 42.
