Activities in Chattogram port resume

The normal activities of Chattogram port resumed on Thursday morning after a day of strike by super cyclone Amphan, reports BSS.

The cargo ships, which were anchored outer side of the port, started coming to the port this morning, port sources said, adding the loading and unloading at port jetties and its yard have also started.

As the sea is still rough, the unloading of goods from bulk ships to small lighter ships remains closed, the sources said.

Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) member Zafar Alam said currently 99 ships are waiting in the deep sea to enter the port.

Earlier, CPA suspended all the activities of the port from Tuesday as met office issued ‘Alert-4’ for the port to deal with possible damage of the supper cyclone Amphan.

Meanwhile, the met office asked Chattogram port to show signal number 3.
