The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) on Wednesday opened the sculpture of a ‘Rupali Guitar’ (silver guitar) in memory of legendary guitarist and singer Ayub Bachchu, in city’s Prabartak intersection, reports UNB.

CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin unveiled the sculpture at night.

Fans and followers of Ayub Bachchu attended the inauguration.

Financed by a private company, the steel guitar sculpture cost nearly Tk 30 million. The whole project includes beautification of the road and construction of a walkway.

“This ‘Rupali Guitar’ was installed in memory of legendary singer Ayub Bachchu, a native of Chattogram,” the mayor said during the unveiling.

Ayub Bachchu, a celebrated guitarist, song writer, composer and singer, died of cardiac arrest on 18 October last year.
