Bangladesh dance trio set to enthrall Chinese audience

Three Bangladeshi classical dancers are on a distinctive tour to join the first ever conference of the Music Education Alliance, ‘Across the Silk Road’, at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China.
Lubna Marium, art director of Shadhona Cultural Centre in Bangladesh, choreographer Amit Chowdhury and Sweety Das Chowdhury, a teacher of the centre, are set to grace the Chinese audience with their presence, said a press release.
A number of members of the Centre are also attending the event, to be held on 5-7 May.
More than 70 musicians from 16 countries will perform at the event alongside their Chinese peers.
Lubna Marium will make a 30-minute presentation on ‘Seeking Sahaja through dance: A historical overview of spiritual dance practices in Bangladesh’ on the final day of the conference while Amit and Sweety will conduct a workshop on the basics of dances in Bangladesh.
Later the trio will perform a 40-minute dance on Rabindranath Tagore, Nazrul Islam, Manipuri dance (Bangladesh) and Baul.
The artistes will start their journey towards China on 3 May.
