Biggest animal sacrificing feastival begins in Nepal

The month long Gadhimai festival begins at Bariyapur village of Nepal on Friday, AFP reports.
Every five years, millions of Hindu devotees from Nepal and India migrate to the village to honour their goddess of power.
Worshippers have spent days sleeping out in the open and offering prayers to the goddess at a temple decked with flowers in preparation, AFP added.
Devotees sacrifice thousands of animals, mostly buffalo and goats in the name of goddess.
The event involves the world's largest sacrificial slaughter of animals.
Last year at the festival, around 500,000 animals, including water buffaloes, pigs, goats, chicken, rats, and pigeons, were slaughtered.
