'Ghashful has an exceptional storyline'

Saila Sabi broke into media with popular dance competition “Channel i Shera Nachiye'. Although she did not win the show, the exposure she got from the show eventually landed her to the silver screen.

Ghashful, her second movie, is being released on Friday, and this emerging actress opened up to Prothom Alo about her journey so far.

You started as a dancer. What made you shift your focus towards acting?

It just happened. Film star Ferdous was one of the judges of “Channel i Shera Nachiye” 2012. One he asked me whether I want to perform in movies, and I said yes without thinking. When he asked whom do I want as my co-star, I blurted out his name. Coincidentally, he was the male lead of my first movie Priya Tumi Shukhi How.

Tell us about Ghashful...

Ghashful has an exceptional storyline, and it's the labour of love of the director Akram Khan. We started shooting at Kushtia in late 2013, and it was a very enjoyable experience for me.

Why would the viewers watch Ghashful?

One thing I can say about Ghashful is, it's the movie you watch at ease with your family. If you want a clean, well made movie give Ghashful a shot. I'm sure it will touch everyone's heart.

What else keeps you busy?

I'm working in three mega serials, of them two are already being aired. I'm regularly working on other TV plays as well. All along, I am continuing my study.
