Iranian film show kicks off in city

A six-day long Iranian film show kicked off at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in the city on Friday.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the main auditorium of the museum with the famous Iranian film ‘Body Guard’ directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia as the opening screening, reports UNB.

Iran Cultural Centre, Dhaka and Bangladesh National Museum organised the film show on the occasion of 39th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran (National Day).

The film produced by Ehsan Muhammad Hasani was first screened at the 34th Fajr International Film Festival while the movie ‘Sweet Taste of Imagination’ produced by Mohammad-Ali Hossein-Nezhad, and ‘Trik’ by Iraj Ghaderi, dubbed in Bangla, will be screened on Saturday.

The film ‘Bodyguard’ is the story of a middle-aged man who protects high-ranking political figures. However, he gets into trouble when a suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest approaches to the vice president. The director of the film stated “some motifs Bodyguard to recollect his 1999 hit The Glass Agency.

The movie bagged three top prizes (Best Art Direction, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Director award) at the 3rd Vienna Independent Film Festival (VIFF 2017) in Austria last year.

Alongside, audience can enjoy ‘Fourth Child’ by Vabid Mosiayan and ‘Earthquake’ by Sairus Alvando, dubbed in Bangla, on 11 February.

‘Crazy Look’ by Abul Hasan Boudi and Kiumars Pourahmad’s latest drama ‘Where is my shoes’ will be screened on 12 February, while the screening of ‘A Cube of Sugar’ by Seyyed Reza Mir-Karimi and ‘Golchehreh’ by Vahid Shamsaei, is scheduled for screening on 13 February.

Two movies ‘Cling Up’ dubbed in Bangla by Golam Hossain and ‘Today’ by Seyyed Reza Mir-Karimi will be screened on the last day (14 February) of the film show.

The movies will be screened with Bangla Dubbing and English subtitles at 11:00am and 3:00pm every day. The screening is free for all.
