Police submitted a report before a Dhaka court on Thursday clearing Shahriar Islam Shaon of the charge filed by the actress Mahiya Mahi for claiming himself her husband, reports news agency UNB.

Sohrab Miah, sub-inspector (SI) of Uttara West police station, submitted the report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, said general registering officer sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam.

The report will be placed before the Cyber Crime Tribunal on 7 March, he said.

Earlier on 28 May 2016, Mahi filed the case against Shaon with the police station for posting some of their photos in social media claiming himself as her husband.

On the same day, Mahi lodged a complaint with Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)'s Cyber Crime branch against her self-proclaimed husband Shaon.

Later, detectives arrested Shaon from his South Badda's residence over the complaint.

They also seized their computer from his residence.

According to case statement, on 25 May 2016, Mahi got married to businessman Parvez Ahmed Opu. However, days after her marriage, Shaon claimed that Mahi was once married even before she decided to get married to him, which makes Mahi's marriage to Opu her third.

Bangladesh Cyber Crime Tribunal KM Shamsul Alam granted bail to Shawon on 5 June last following a mutual agreement between the defendant and the plaintiff.
