Masud Rana is back
Masud Rana is back on the silver screen after 44 years. One of the prominent production houses, Jaaz Multimedia has taken up the project of making the film adaptation of popular thriller based on the spy with the the same name. The film has an enormous budget of Tk 500 million.
The owner of Jaaz Multimedia, Abdul Aziz, revealed this to Prothom Alo on Monday.
Jaaz Multimedia and Channel-i jointly planned to launch a talent hunt for the lead actor for the film. Notably, one of the leading actor of his time, Sohel Rana played Masud Rana in 1974.
Popular actor Ferdous and leading lady Purnima will be the judges for the reality show which will be aired very soon, according to the organisers.
“We are planning something big. Our target is global viewers this time. We proposed that Amitabh Reza direct the film as he has made a superb TV promo for the film. Let’s see what he decides,” Abdul Aziz told Prothom Alo.
The screenplay of the first part of the film titled ‘Dhongsho Pahar’ is penned by Nazim ud Doula.
Hollywood cinematographer Pablo Diaz and action director Phil Tan will work for the film. Phil Tan is famous for his blockbuster action films such as ‘Transformer’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.
“Fifty per cent of the film will be filmed in Hollywood while 40 per cent will in the hill tracts of Bangladesh. The remaining 10 per cent will be shot in Thailand, China and Dubai,” said Jaaz’s CEO Abdul Aziz .
The film would be called ‘Masud Rana’ in Bangla. Its English name would be ‘MR9’, Abdul Aziz added.
