Mili 'at home' in Ekjon Mayaboti

Farhana Mili of Monpura fame has been busy on the small screen lately. Her mega serial Ekjon Mayaboti is being telecasted in Channel i and a few other mega serials are underway as well. She talked to Prothom Alo regarding her works on the small screen.
You are playing the central role in the screen adaptation of Humayun Ahmed’s novel Ekjon Mayaboti. Is it putting you under a lot of pressure?
I always wanted to perform in Humayun sir’s works, but unfortunately he passed away before I got the chance. I got the script of Ekjon Mayaboti last year quite suddenly. Initially, I was quite nervous, but once I started working, the character grew on me.
Could you become the Mayaboti Humayun Ahmed created?
Let the viewers decide that. I performed confidently, and got enormous support from director Mazharul Islam and the entire team of Ekjon Mayaboti. Working with Mahfuz Ahmed for the first time is another great experience. He is an amazing person.
You were not seen in the big screen after Monpura ……
After Monpura was released in 2009, a lot of major changes happened in my personal life. I got married, my son was born - and my family became the center of my attention. Another reason is - not many good movies have been made in the last few years.
So, we are not going to see you in movies anymore?
Why not? I am all for working in the movies. However, as I’m not a glamorous actress, acting is the only thing I can bring on the plate. I will only do movies where I can utilize my acting skills.
What are your current projects?
I’m working on a few mega serials. Some works for Eid have also been completed. Some other projects are in the discussion stage.
