Misha-Zayed panel wins in Cholochitro Shilpi Samity elections

Actor Misha Saudagar has been elected president beating actress Mousumi and Zayed Khan general secretary of Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samity.

The two have won the election for consecutive second term. The election was held at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in Dhaka on Friday amid enthusiasm.

Actor Elias Kanchan, who was the election commissioner, declared the results around 2:00am. As many as 386 out of total 449 votes were cast.

Misha bagged 227 votes while independent candidate Mousumi got 125 votes. Zayed Khan secured 284 votes and Elias Kobra 68 votes.

“We will work for betterment of our film industry taking all artistes with us. Foreign films are gradually devouring our industry. We will do whatever needed to fight it,” newly elected president Misha said.

Zayed said, “We’ll work so that the artistes can live with honor.”

As many as 27 artists contested the elections for 18 posts. Dipjol and Rubel were elected as vice presidents.

Subrata, Jacky Alamgir and Forhad were elected organising secretary, office and publicity secretary and finance secretary uncontested.

This was the 15th edition of the election. The first election of the association was held on 1984.
