Popular movie actress Moushumi Hamid has pushed the envelope and signed up for the role of a sex worker in a short film.

Moushumi, who is a commercial movie star, will portray the character Nabila in the short film titled ‘Second Sex’.

The film will shed light on the situations which lead women to join the profession and the aftermath of becoming a sex worker.

The director of the film, Aniruddho Russell, said some adverse situations lead Nabila to become a sex worker.

“It’s a challenging role to portray. My character will create awareness among the audience,” said Moushumi Hamid.

Regarding working in a short film, the Dhallywood hit maker said “I am an actress. I work in projects that have good stories. I decided to work in Second Sex right after I read the script,” said Moushumi.

The shooting started in Uttara on 19 January.

Director Aniruddho said the film will not be released in any movie theatres.

The movie will be screened on projectors to create awareness among villagers, he added.
