Nazrul Award conferred on Serajul, Shabnam

For their outstanding contributions to preserving and promoting the works of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Nazrul researcher Serajul Islam Chowdhury and Nazrul Sangeet singer Shabnam Mushtari have been awarded with the Nazrul Award-2014.
The Nazrul Institute on Thursday organised a programme at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to confer the award on Serajul Islam Chowdhury and Shabnam Mushtari on the occasion of 39th death anniversary of rebel poet Nazrul, says BSS.
The programme was featured by a discussion on the life and works of the legendary poet. Eminent researchers and personalities took part in the discussion.

Cultural Affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor addressed the programme as chief guest and handed over the Nazrul Award to the recipients.

Cultural Affairs secretary Begum Akhtari Momotaz, Nazrul Institute Trustee Board chairman Prof Rafiqul Islam and Nazrul Institute executive director Ekram Ahmed spoke on the occasion.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liaquat Ali Lucky chaired the programme.
