Razzak, Amjad Hossain and Shuchanda, acclaimed actors of Zahir Raihan’s film, ‘Jibon Theke Neya’, will be honoured in a reunion of the film on Tuesday.

The film, released in 1969, is a satirical depiction of the Language Movement, portraying an entire country through the story of a family.

The Bangladesh Film Directors' Association has arranged the event to be held on the occasion of 21st February, the International Mother Language Day in the capital’s Bangladesh Film Development Corporation.

Shahin Kabir Tutul, convener of International Mother Language Day observance committee, said that Razzak, Shuchanda and Amjad Hossain will talk about their experience of filming ‘Jibon Theke Neya’ in the programme.

The film will be screened at BFDC's VIP Projection Hall after a discussion on the film.

Information minister Hasanul Haq Inu will grace the event as chief guest, Shahin Kabir Tutul added.

Bangladesh Film Directors' Association president Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar said, “‘Jibon Theke Neya’ is such a film that proves what a film can do to make people rise for their freedom. A number of artistes of this film have passed away.”

“We'll honour Razzak, Shuchanda and Amjad Hossain who played central characters,” Gulzar added.

Veteran actor Amjad Hossain said the programme should have been arranged in a larger scale.

“Time has come to arrange a big event to celebrate the film ‘Jibon Theke Neya’,” he added.
