Shimky to perform in Dipanpur Tuesday

Noted Nazrul Sangeet exponent Shamshy Faruque Shimky is scheduled to perform at a solo musical at Dipanpur Book cafe in Dhaka on Tuesday evening.
The artiste is making a comeback to the dais through this event, after two decades.
One of the top graded Nazrul singer in 1980s and early 1990s, she regularly performed in Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Radio programmes in those days.
She had then active presence in different cultural events in Nazrul Institute, Bangla Academy and Shilpakala Academy in the capital, and sometimes outside it.
The singer later left the country to start a new life in the United Kingdom. She now lives in Manchester with her husband and two daughters and serving as a ‘human resource consultant’ at the UK’s National Health Service.
Shimky began taking lessons at the Nazrul Academy in Dhaka in 1975. She completed a five-year training course there, both on Nazrul Sangeet and classical music.
She took additional lessons from two maestros - Shudhin Das and Akhter Sadmani.
