Previous panel cancelled my membership in Film Artistes' Association: Popy
After months of silence, Dhallywood actress Sadika Parveen Popy has finally showed herself on social media on Wednesday.
The actress revealed that she received a letter from the previous panel of Film Artistes' Association terminating her membership and claimed that she has repeatedly been humiliated, UNB reports.
In a video message she said, “I thought I would never come in front of the camera again. But as an artist I have responsibilities. I have received the National Film Award three times and worked with dignity for over 26 years in the industry.”
She said she had been repeatedly humiliated by a member of the current artist association. Riaz, Ferdous, Purnima and Nipun have also been humiliated, she said.
The actress urged the members of the association not to make the mistake they did and to choose the right candidate through election.
The current panel of Misha Sawdagar and Zayed Khan degraded 184 persons including Popy depriving them of voting rights in association matters.
Popy asked members to vote for the Ilias Kanchan and Nipun panel who promised to restore full membership of the 184 members.
