Shabnur ends her marriage

Actress Shabnur has hit the headlines once again as she announced her split with husband Anik Mahmud after seven years of marriage.

The popular actress of the 90's told Prothom Alo that she sent a divorce notice to her husband as they had differences over several matters.

This Prothom Alo correspondent talked to Anik Mahmud over phone Wednesday morning. Anik said he did not receive any divorce notice so far and slammed those responsible for spreading such rumours.

“I talked to Shabnur this morning and she did not mention of any such thing,” Anik Mahmud said. When the Prothom Alo correspondent said the actress herself told the media about this, Anik said, “Okay” and hung up.

Shabnur get married to Anik Mahmud on 28 December 2012. The couple became parents of a son next year. According to Shabnur’s family, Shabnur signed the divorce notice on 26 January and sent it to Anik through her lawyer.

The actress living in Australia currently told Prothom Alo over phone, “Nothing was going well between us after our son was born. We had differences. We started living separately. I hoped that would change thing between us.”

“But it didn’t. Then I talked to my in-laws. Finally I had to take the decision,” she added.

Asked what exactly happened between them, the actress said, “He was not performing his duties at all as a father and a husband. I asked him to change himself but to no avail.”
