After ‘Aynabaji’ success, Chanchal Chowdhury is all set to play Humayun Ahmed’s fictional character Misir Ali on screen.

The actor will take the avatar of Misir Ali for his upcoming film ‘Debi’ being made by actress Jaya Ahsan’s production house C te Cinema.

Besides this, he will be seen in a new television serial, ‘Champakoli Talkies’, to be aired today at 7:30pm on RTV.

In an interview with Prothom Alo, Chanchal spoke about his film ‘Debi’ and TV serial.

Excerpts of his interview are as follows:
Prothom Alo: The poster and teaser of your upcoming film ‘Debi’ have been released. What do you expect from the film?

Chanchal Chowdhury: I believe it’ll be a wonderful film and viewers will love it a lot. I think it’ll be a film of international standard.

Prothom Alo: Will Misir Ali of ‘Debi’ be familiar with the fictional one?

Chanchal Chowdhury: See, it’s very common for the filmmakers to add their own thoughts while adapting a novel into a film. The readers even may have their different points of view about the same fiction. But yes, the common factors will be the same.

Prothom Alo: When was ‘Champakoli Talkies’ filmed?

Chanchal Chowdhury: Almost a year back. The story is based on the cinema loving people of a village, Abhirampur. It was filmed in Pubail area of Dhaka.

Prothom Alo: Don’t you think, airing a TV serial after a year of shooting will make it out-dated?

Chanchal Chowdhury: it’s a common practice in our industry. The makers submit a dozen of episodes to a particular TV channel. The channel takes six months to one year long to air it.  I think it’s better to finalise all the plans and schedules before starting the shoot.

Prothom Alo: How’s the storyline of ‘Champakoli Talkies’?

Chanchal Chowdhury: It’s a simple story of village. I am playing the role of ‘Koli’ who fails three times in SSC exam and wishes to establish a cinema hall in the village. He also wishes to watch the first show in the hall with Champa, a girl from the same village.

Prothom Alo: Koli failed to pass three times in the play. Did you ever fail in any exam in real life?

Chanchal Chowdhury: Well, never. I was quite a bright student.
