Aparna Ghosh starrer Bangladeshi feature film 'Bhuban Majhi', set in the country’s liberation war in 1971, has received a special award at Rainbow Film Festival in London.

Aparna, the film's female protagonist, joined the festival to receive the award. The Indo-Bangla joint venture has been released in Bengal of India on Friday.

The actress recently talked to Prothom Alo about the film, her experience in the festival and many other things.

The excerpts of her interview are as follows...

Prothom Alo: What are you up to right now?

Aparna: I just returned from the film festival. I will now focus on TV plays for the Eid. I will be working in fewer dramas this Eid though.

Prothom Alo: How was your experience at Rainbow Film Festival?

Aparna: Any festival is exciting for me as I get to meet new people there. I met Jayasree Kabir in London. Jayasree Kabir is a Bangladeshi veteran actress of popular films like 'Shimana Periye', 'Surjo Konna' and many more. I could never meet her if I did not join the festival.

Prothom Alo: Did you discuss films with Jayasree Kabir?

Aparna:  She was talking about her struggle for cinema. I came to know about films of her time. She gave her opinion about present-day films and existing problems in our industry.

Prothom Alo: What's your expectation of 'Bhuban Majhi' in India?

Aparna: Many used to ask me on Facebook, "When will the film be released in India?" after it was released in Bangladesh.

Besides, the male protagonist of the film is one of the popular Indian actors Parambrata Chatterjee. Also, the music director late Kalika Prasad Bhattacharya is very popular in India.

It’s a great sorrow that I could not watch the film with him.

Prothom Alo: Are you involved in any new film right now?

Aparna: I am reading a screenplay of a film to be made with government grant. I will decide whether or not I want to work in it once I am done reading the script.

Prothom Alo: What, according to you, is the main problem of TV plays these days?

Aparna: I think, budget. Better plays cannot be made without sufficient budget. Seniors in our industry have to come forward to resolve the issue.

Prothom Alo: What's your favourite film?

Aparna: Baby's Day Out.

Prothom Alo: What if you become prime minister?

Aparna: I will change the system.
