‘We both tried wholeheartedly to keep up the relationship’

Ziaul Faruq Apurba and Nazia Hassan AdityCollected

Ziaul Faruque Apurba, the celebrated actor with X-factor in small screen, has parted way with Nazia Hassan Adity after nine years of marriage. The former couple have cleared the air about their separation in separate social media status and requested friends, media and fans to show respect to their decision.

Numerous fans thronged in the status posted by Nazia Hassan on Sunday and wished best for her and Apurba and their son Ayyash.

Prothom Alo contacted Adity who has been equally popular on social media to know about how the relationship came into the phase.

This is what she had to say….

Q :

What made you put such a status on social media?

Because I felt it right. Apurba and my son Ayyash both are public figures. Many people know me because of them. I felt I should let everyone know about the separation. To let everyone call me Mrs. Apurba (Bhabi) even after divorce seems hypocrisy to me.

I didn’t share our couple-photos for a long time. Many friends call me to know if everything is okay between us. That is why I decided to post the status on my Facebook.

Q :

When did it happen? Is it a mutual divorce?

Very recently. Yes, it is a mutual decision. We tried our best, but it didn’t work out.

Q :

What is the reason behind this divorce after nine years of marriage?

That’s very personal, I believe. I do not wish to discuss about that in public. We had our differences and that turned out like this.

Q :

Only that?

There were other reasons too. He is the father of my son. I do not want to demean him by any means. Apurba, too, respects me a lot. He never speaks ill about me anywhere. So please let’s not talk about the reason.

Q :

How was Apurba as a husband?

Whatever bad happened between us, it happened in our private space. I cannot deny his stardom, his hard working and his numerous fans. Acting so well is a quality and nobody can deny that. He is a talented actor and good human being. That’s all I can say.

Q :

When did you realise it wasn’t working out?

Honestly speaking, we both tried wholeheartedly to keep up the relationship. But we failed. At one stage we decided to part our ways. After all, staying in an unhealthy relationship would only affect our son.

Q :

How long it took you to make the decision?

Actually, anything doesn’t happen overnight. We have been through a lot of ups and downs. We could not make it, no matter how hard we tried.

Q :

Was there any third person involved in this?

Please drop this matter. There was no third person between us. All this happened because of our own differences.

Q :

When did you last see Apurba?

Since Ayyash is staying with me, he often comes to see him. We take Ayyash outside, eat together and play.

Q :

Won't your broken marriage affect Ayyash in the future?

I don’t think so. As parents we both respect each other and make positive comments about each other in front of our child. I believe we both can support Ayyash in his understanding of our separation and raise him a good human being.

Q :

You had written a number of scripts for TV dramas previously. Will you continue writing?

So far I have written three scripts including a story. The latest one titled ‘Roudro Asbe Bole’ will be aired on this Eid. It depends on my mood. I have a very friendly relationship with Nisho, Mehazabien Chowdhury, Tanzin Tisha and maker Ariyan. I may write in future if any director requests me for script.
