The launching of Shunno’s graphic print folio series, ‘Apostrophe’ and mobile mini-press will be held at Alliance Francaise de Dhaka on Friday.

Alliance Francaise de Dhaka and ‘Shunno Art Space’ will jointly organise the special event beginning at 5:00pm, reports UNB.

Two eminent artists of the country-Monirul Islam and professor Mahmudul Haque-will inaugurate the event as chief guests.

The exhibition will begin with the launch of ‘Apostrophe’ at the Café la Véranda followed by a display of prints from the folio at the Galerie Zoom.

Following that Shunno’s fully operational itinerant mini press will be inaugurated.

‘Apostrophe’ is a folio set of 40 pressure prints, created during Studio Shunno’s 2013 graphic workshop project, ‘Mind Map”.

With the goal to build long-term, sustained engagements with artists inclined to materialise their respective aesthetic goals, Studio Shunno and Corridor Foundation designed this series of collaborative workshops in 2013 to ensure a convergence of practice and theory.

Nineteen emerging artists participated in the workshop for 10 days and produced 116 plates. From these works, only forty plates were selected to be published as portfolios. Apostrophe features works by Jamil Akbar Shamim, Syed Zahid Iqbal, Tahmina Hafiz Lisa, Farzana Ahmed Urmi, Fatima Khatun, Tejosh Halder Josh, Sajal Das, Md. Kamruzzoha, Emran Sohel, Umme Sohag, Jafrin Gulshan, Iqbal Bahar Chy, Khalequzzaman Shimul, Sadya Mizan, Manik Bonik, Kuntal Barai, Jahid Hasan, Lamia Azad, and Opper Zaman.

The exhibition and print facility will also be open to all on Saturday.
