The postman of Kusthia

He wears a traditional dhoti and a turban and carries a bag full of letters, a lamp, and a spear.
Say hello to the postman of Kusthia.
But he is not a living creature.
A sculpture of this postman has been erected in Nishan intersection of Kusthia municipality's Housing area.
In this age of technology, writing letters is a dying art and the necessity of a postman is now next to zero.
The postman's sculpture will hark back people to the age of hand-written letters.
Gagan Harkara, an employee of the postal department in Khustia's Kasba village who was also a lyricist, was an inspiration behind this sculpture.
According to municipality engineering department, municipality mayor Anwar Hossain in 2014 took the initiative to make this sculpture.
Sculptor Faisal Mahmud completed the sculpture in only two months.
On 26 May last year, the postman was finally placed.
Kusthia municipality set a theme with this sculpture, that is, good news is at the door of its people.
Municipality executive engineer Rabiul Islam said, "Postmen used to deliver letters to people. We want to deliver good news to the people of this municipality."
