Shashthi moments at Dhakeshwari
The biggest religious festival of the Bangali Hindu community, Durga Puja, commenced on Shashthi Tithy on Monday across the country.
The festivities began with the early morning ritual of Kalparambha, the devotees’ resolution to observe the whole ceremony sound.
The welcoming rituals at Dhakeshwari National Temple in Dhaka included Bodhon Amantran (Incarnation), Adhibas, and recitations from Holy Chandi.
Devotees blew conch shells (shankha) and beat drums at different mandaps in the city during the occasion.
With Shashthi, the aura of the colourful festival is set for the next three days of Mahasaptami, Mahahtami and Mahanabami till the immersion of the idol of Durga.
