182 titles hit Ekushey Book Fair Tuesday

A total of 540 books, including 182 on Tuesday, have so far hit the Amar Ekushey Book Fair, reports UNB.

Some 81,138,141 titles were published on the second, third and fourth day of the fair respectively.

It was found that booklovers were still browsing books of the late and prominent writers like Shawkat Osman, Humayun Ahmed and Akhtaruzzaman Illias.

Books of the new writers are at the bottom of their choice list though the promotion on social media is going on.

A total of 152 new titles hit the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair on the fifth day of the fair which is the highest compared to the last three days.

Some 33 novels, 40 poetry volumes, 20 short stories and 15 essay books were published on the day.

Books on various topics including research, rhyme, and children literature, biography along with liberation war and science, travelogue were in the fair.
Publishers from across the country are exhibiting a huge number of books on different issues while Bangla Academy is exhibiting 102 newly printed and reprinted books this year.

The Ekushey Book Fair is getting bigger every year in terms of participating publication houses, the number of new books unveiled at the fair as well as sales.

The number of publication houses and other organisations joining the fair this year is 550, according to Bangla Academy, organiser of the book fair.

The academy said their books are being sold at a 25 per cent discount price while bKash offers 10 per cent cash back when making the payment on purchases at the Ekushey Book Fair 2019 through its payment network. The cash back is applicable on top of the publishers' 25 per cent discount on cover prices.
