Whiny Women, the inaugural event of Women in Arts, Bangladesh (WIAB) will be held in Dhaka Gallery on 4 and 5 January, said a press release.

The platform started as a Facebook group for girls and women to share their stories about navigating the creative arts industry within Bangladesh. It has slowly become a place for hobbyists, professionals, and semi-professionals alike to showcase their art - whether it’s make-up, filmmaking, performance or visual arts, said a press release.

Whiny Women is open to artists of all identifying genders and walks of life, not limited to visual arts only. As a mixed media exhibit, they welcome photographers, performance artists, filmmakers, sculptors, writers, poets, as well as painters and animators - whatever medium in which the artist finds justice, the press release added.

WIAB is spearheaded by Pracheta Ahana while being supported by Zarin Subha Rodela, Alveera Rahman and Sagorika Haque.

Growing to almost 300 members within the past week, it now strives to become a supportive network for creative women.
