Kazakhstan's Zulfiya Chinshanlo broke her own clean and jerk world record but missed out on Asian Games gold when Taiwan's Hsu Shu-ching swiftly equalled her lift on Sunday.

In an extraordinary sequence, both athletes hoisted 132kg to eclipse Chinshanlo's 53kg class record, set at the London Olympics, by 1kg.

Chinshanlo still had one lift remaining and raised the weight to the 137kg that she needed for outright gold, but she could not complete the lift.

Combined with the snatch, Hsu's lifts totalled 233kg, against 228kg for Chinshanlo.
