Dhaka Platoon march to playoffs eliminating Rangpur Rangers
Dhaka Platoon confirmed a playoff berth in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as the 3rd team after Chattogram Challengers and Rajshahi Royals, beating Rangpur Rangers by 61 runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
It was the Platoon's 7th win in 10 matches while Rangers endured 7th defeat in 11 games, reports UNB.
Replying to Platoon's 145 for nine in 20 overs, Rangers tumbled for 84 all-out in 15.3 overs. Cameron Delport (20), Al Amin (23) and Mohammad Nabi (12) were the only three batsmen to reach double-digit scores but the other batsmen were unable to come up with match-winning innings.
Mahedi Hasan bagged three wickets in 3.3 overs conceding 13 runs while Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan scalped two wickets each.
Earlier, Rangers won the toss and sent Platoon to bat first who scored 145 for nine wickets in 20 overs. Tamim Iqbal was the highest runs scorer hitting 41 runs off 38 balls with five fours while Shadab Khan (31), Ariful Haque (13), Anamul Haque (11) and Thisara Perera (10) also contributed with the bat.
Later, Pakistani Shadab Khan was adjudged the man of the match for unbeaten 31 off 19 balls, in addition to bowling figures of 2/14.
Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed took three wickets each conceding 34 and 32 runs respectively while Mohammad Nabi bagged two and Lewis Gregory scalped one wicket.
