KKR beat Kings XI Punjab to win 2nd IPL title

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat the Kings XI Punjab by three wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore in a thrilling final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday.

Now the KKR is the second team after the Chennai Super Kings to clinch two IPL titles.

Chasing a mammoth total of 200 runs, the KKR won the match with three balls to spare.

KKR batsman Manish Pandey scored 94 runs off just 50 balls smashing seven boundaries and six sixes while Yusuf Pathan scored 36 runs off 22 balls with four sixes.

But it was Piyush Chawla who stole the show, game and more importantly the IPL trophy from the Kings XI Punjab. Chawla scored unbeaten 13 runs off five balls with one boundary and one six.

KKR allrounder Shakib Al Hasan scored 12 runs off 7 balls with two boundaries. The Bangladeshi gave 26 runs bowling four overs, but got no wicket.

Kings XI Punjab bowlers Karanveer Singh took four wickets for 54 runs from four overs while Mitchell Johnson took two wickets for 41 runs from four overs.

KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir won the toss and decided to field first.

The Kings XI Punjab set a mammoth target of 199 runs losing four wickets.

Opening batsman Manan Vohra contributed 67 runs off 52 balls with six boundaries and two sixes while Wriddhiman Saha scored an unbeaten innings of 115 runs off just 55 balls smashing 10 boundaries and eight sixes.

KKR bowler Piyush Chawla took two wickets for 44 runs from four overs.
