Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was scheduled to join the Bangladesh squad on Thursday to play the must-win game against hosts Sri Lanka on Friday.

Shakib, now the skipper for T20 and Test versions, may take over from Mahmudullah who is stand-in captain in the former's absence.

If the things remain unchangeable, Shakib might play the virtual semi-final match against the islanders on 16 March, according to the officials of the Bangladesh team.

They said the world’s number one all-rounder is scheduled to fly to Sri Lankan capital Colombo to join his the squad sometime on Thursday.

The match could be the last match of the tri-nation series of T20 internationals for the Tigers if they lose Sri Lanka.
Shakib joined regular practice session days ago after more than one and half months of medication, coming from his finger injuries.

He received the finger injuries during the final match of another tri-nation series against visiting Sri Lanka in Dhaka on 27 January.
