Tigers all out for 260 despite Shakib, Tamim fifties

Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan both hit fifties, but the rest of the team were subdued by a controlled Australian bowling as Bangladesh were bundled out for 260 on the first day of the first Test in Dhaka on Sunday.
Winning the toss, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim opted to bat first, but Pat Cummins ripped through the Bangladesh top order inside the day’s first four overs.
Opener Soumya Sarkar could only manage eight to become Cummins’ first victim, while both Imrul Kayes and Sabbir Rahman failed to score a single run as the paceman compunded the Tigers’ miseries.
The hosts were three wickets down on 10, and Tamim and Shakib, both playing their 50th Tests, came to the rescue. The duo added 155 in the fourth-wicket partnership to bring the Tigers back to the game.
Tamim’s contribution was 71 off 144, thanks to five fours and three sixes, while Shakib hit 84 courtesy of 11 fours.
Tamim was undone by Glen Maxwell’s part-time bowling and Shakib soon followed him, missing out on another century.
Mushfiq and Mehedi Hasan Miraz both made 18 while Nasir Hossain contributed 23, but Nathan Lyon and Ashton Agar bagged three wickets each to mop the tail.
