All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for three matches in Dhaka Premier League (DPL) and slapped a fine of Tk 500,000 for his inappropriate behaviour with the umpire on Saturday centering a leg before wicket (LBW) appeal against Abahani captain Mushfiqur Rahim.

The announcement of his punishment was made by CCDM chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed at a press conference on Saturday evening. Shakib Al Hasan kicked and broke the stumps at a DPL match between Abahani and Mohammedan on Friday.

Later, the Mohammedan captain uprooted the stumps once the umpire halted the match due to rain in the following over and also locked into verbal spat with Abahani coach Khaled Mahmud.

Hours after the incident, the world’s best all-rounder apologised for his wrongdoing at a Facebook post.

"I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials and organising committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won't repeat this again in the future. Thanks and love you all,” he wrote.
