Rangpur clinch JFA Football title beating Mymensingh

Rangpur district team clinched the JFA U-14 National Women's Football title beating Mymensingh District by 4-2 goals in the tie breaker in the final at Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Friday, reports UNB.

The final match between the two teams was locked in a goalless position in the stipulated 90 minutes that forced the match towards tie breaker.

In penalty shootout, Fatima, Shamima, Mim and Misrat scored for Rangpur while Hafsa and Janira Manda netted for Mymensingh.

The champions Rangpur received a prize of Tk 50,000 and golden trophy while runners-up Mymensingh got Tk 25,000 and silver trophy.

Fatima of Rangpur was adjudged the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament while her teammate Shila named as the highest scorer of the tournament making eight goals.

Besides, Anika Tanjum of Magura was adjudged as the most promising player of the tournament.

Earlier, Thakurgaon reached the final eliminating Mymensingh by 3-2 goals in penalty shootout as the first semifinal between the two teams was locked 1-1 goals in the regulation period on Thursday.

But, Thakurgaon was disqualified from the tournament due to violating the tournament rules and their opponents Mymensingh was declared winner to play in the final.
