All-rounder Farhad Reza and experienced top order batsman Jahurul Islam are confident to make place in the main squad of national cricket team from the ongoing 35-member national conditioning camp.

Bangladesh cricket team started the conditioning camp on Monday ahead of their new home season started with a one-off Test against Afghanistan.

Jahurul played for Bangladesh team for the last time back in 2014 while Farhad represented the national side for the last time in 2013.

But, the duo have been performing consistently well in the domestic arena that paved their way to the preliminary squad of the national team.

“I always try to do my own job properly, and that is why I am here now. I am confident to take advantage of the chance. If get selected I will try with all my ability to do well,” Farhad told reporters on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla national cricket stadium.
The right-handed pace-bowling all-rounder played 34 ODIs and 13 T20s scored 484 runs and bagged 28 wickets. However, he was best performers in the domestic circuit during the last few years. He bagged 255 wickets in List-A cricket and scored 2730 runs with 11 fifties.

Jahurul, on the other hand, played seven Tests, 14 ODIs and three T20s. He never got a chance to cement his place in the national team due to inconsistency. But during the last few domestic sessions, he raised his game to the next level.

“Every cricketer dreams to play for the national side. I am also not different. I got the chance in the preliminary squad after a long time. I did well in the last session of the Dhaka Premier League that gave me a chance in the A team. After that, I toured India with the BCB XI and did well. Maybe, that has paved the way to the national side,” Jahurul said on Tuesday.

The right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman believed that he should continue working hard to earn a place in the final squad. But he wants to leave the rest to the selectors.

“I always try to develop my game and my fitness, and the rests are on the selectors. If they think I can serve the national team then they might call me. But yes, if I get another chance, I will try my best to perform well,” he added.
