American footballer Sanjay attains Bangladesh citizenship

Sanjay Sardar Sandul Karim, a Bangladeshi-born American national and footballer, has been awarded Bangladesh citizenship.

Sanjay, who has struck a deal with Bangladesh Police Football Club, dreams of playing for Bangladesh national squad.

The 22-year-old Sanjay's father Enayet Karim, from Mymensingh district, has been living in the US for more than two decades. Sanjay's mother is an American national.

Sanjay has no experience for playing for a big team, but he used to play at the college level in the United States of America.

Sanjay came to Bangladesh 12 years ago. His dream is to play for the Bangladesh national team.

“I visited Bangladesh 12 years ago. This is the second time. It feels I’m at home. I love my grandparents a lot. They inspired me to get Bangladesh citizenship. Dad also motivates me to this end.”

He said, “It feels my strength has been doubled. Here people love me a lot. It’s so exciting. I used to watch Bangladesh’s soccer games. If selected for the national team, it’d be great. This is my dream.”

Earlier Danish footballer Jamal Bhuiyan came to Bangladesh and now leads the national team.

The stories of Sanjay and Finish national Tariq Kazi are the same. Tariq recently obtained Bangladesh citizenship. He also has high hopes to play for Bangladesh.
