Vattern sports commentator Monjur Hasan Mintu passes away

Veteran footballer and sports commentator Monjur Hasan Mintu passed away in Joypur India on Tuesday evening.

He was 78.

He went to Ajmir Sarif for special prayer with his wife.

During his visit in India, he stayed in a hotel in Joypur. He felt down in the bathroom and started vomiting. He was rushed to a hospital in Joypur but the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

He left behind his wife, a son, relatives, well-wishers and admirers to mourn his death.

Mintu was awarded national Sports Award for Football and Badminton in 1978. He played football for Wonderrers Club, East Pakistan National team. He started sports commentary for Radio in 1970s. He worked regularly for Radio and Television as a sports commentator for last 40 years. He was also a news reader of Bangladesh Betar.

Bangladesh Sports Commentator Forum President Alfaz Uddin Ahmed and General Secretary Dr Saidur Rahman expressed profound shock at his death.

In a message of condolence, they prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
