In order to prevent dropping out of school, during the prevailing coronavirus pandemic children will now be able to get admitted to government primary schools near their homes without any transfer certificates.

The primary and mass education ministry on Sunday issued a circular in this regard to the director general of the primary education directorate, all deputy commissioners, upazila nirbahi officers, deputy directors of primary education departments, district primary education officers, and upazila and thana officers.

It was stated that from 17 March all schools have been closed in the country due to the COVID-19 outbreak. As a result, many students had left the cities to go to the villages. Many kindergarten schools may also be closing down, according to media reports and other sources. As a result, the children may find themselves without any schools.

That is why, it was requested, children should be allowed to get admission to primary schools in the localities near their homes at any time of the year. It was said that if a child was to be admitted, the head teacher of the concerned school would check the ID card of the student’s previous school, or fees book or slip, or class diary, or class copies, etc. No transfer certificate would be required.
