The National University (NU) is going to promote nearly 300,000 first year students to the second year in the wake of second wave of coronavirus.

The authorities, however, set some conditions in this regard.

The decision was taken on Wednesday as the university couldn't take the final examinations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a press release, the university said as many as 467,835 first year students have filled-up forms to take part in the final examination in 2020.

Of them, the number of regular students is 2 97,626 and irregular 19,050. Some 151,159 students applied for improvement.

Some 316,676 students will be promoted automatically to the second year.

As many as 3, 73,876 students got admission into the NU under 2019-20 academic session.

The university said students, however, will have to attend the written examinations once the pandemic situation will be brought under control. If any student fails in the examination, the promotion will be cancelled.
