COVID-19 delays 38th BCS results

The final results of the 38th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations could not be published due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) said they were unable to continue official activities due to the advent of the virus.

They said they planned to publish results at the end of March.

The government recruits class one gazetted officers through BCS examinations. It will recruit as many as 2,160 people from 38th BCS.

“Coronavirus outbreak has hampered the activities of Bangladesh Public Service Commission. Otherwise we would publish the results at the end of March. The candidates have to wait until the office resumes activities in full swing,” PSC chairman Muhammed Sadique told Prothom Alo.

The PSC top official also said the normal activities remain suspended as the general holiday has been extended to 30 May, which was declared to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

“We, however, worked taking risk to recruit physicians and nurses,” Sadique added.

However, the candidates are worried over the delay of publishing results.

They said three years have already elapsed for this BCS.

The viva voce of the 38th BCS examinations ended on 9 February 2020 while the preliminary examinations were held on 29 December 2017.

As many as 3,889,468 candidates applied for this BCS.
