‘Run for Life’ at DU campus

An awareness run titled "Run for Life: A suicide Prevention Awareness Run" will be held at Dhaka University campus on Sunday, reports UNB.

The Great Bangladesh Run in association with Tomorrow Foundation (BTF) will organise the run, on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day 2018.

A total of 250 participants are expected to join the run from Aparajiye Bangla premises at 6am, said a news release.

State minister for youth and sports ministry Biren Sikder will inaugurate the programme where former vice-chancellor of the university professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will be present as the special guest.

Associated professor Helal Uddin Ahmed of National Mental Health Institute will be present as the guest of honour where prominent musician Samina Chowdhury, first Bangladeshi woman to win the Everest Nishat Majumder and cricketer Taskin Ahmed will be present.

The World Suicide Prevention Day is an awareness day observed on 10 September every year, in order to provide worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides, with various activities around the world since 2003.

The run is supported by Universal Medical College and University of Dhaka where Al Kaderia Ltd is the hospitality partner.
