IU celebrates 40th University Day

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) observed its 40th University Day on the campus in Kushtia on Thursday amid a festive mood, according to UNB.

A daylong programme, including a procession, discussion, and cultural sessions, was held on the campus, marking the day.

IU vice-chancellor professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari inaugurated the programmes by releasing pigeon in the morning.

The VC, later, hoisted the national flag while its pro-vice-chancellor professor M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the university flag in front of the university's administration building around 9:30am.

The teachers, officials, students and staff of the university brought out a colourful procession led by the VC from in front of the administration building of the university.

Among others, IU treasurer professor M Selim Toha, acting registrar SM Abdul Latif, proctor professor M Mahbubar Rahman, IIER director professor M Maher Ali and IU English department chairman professor AHM Aktarul Islam Zillu took part on the procession.

The procession ended at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium after parading main roads of the campus.

Later, a discussion and cultural event was held after cutting cake at the central auditorium of the university.
