An under-construction residential hall for female students of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has been named after the recently passed away freedom fighter Bir Protik Taramon Bibi, as a tribute for her contribution in the liberation war.

The decision was made at the 52nd meeting of the university's policymaking body on Saturday afternoon, reports UNB.

Taramon Bibi was one of just two women to be awarded the Bir Protik award as she had engaged in direct armed combat during the liberation war in 1971.

The authorities also decided to name the second academic building of the campus after prominent scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose, the medical centre after child specialist MR Khan, and the upcoming third residential dormitory for male students after eminent artist SM Sultan.
