At least 10 people were injured early Monday in a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the Islamic University campus in Kushtia, reports UNB.

Azad Rahman, additional superintendent (ASP) of Kushtia police, said a group of BCL men led by the general secretary of its local unit Rakibul Islam went to the room of Mosharraf Hossain Neel, a supporter of its former general secretary Jewel Rana Halim, at Saddam Hossain Hall on Sunday night, where they locked into an argument over a trivial matter.

The dispute eventually descended into violence perpetrated by both sides well into the early hours of Monday morning, leaving 10 of them injured.
Several crude bombs exploded during the clash.

The injured were taken to Kushtia Sadar Hospital and additional police were deployed on the campus to avert any further agitation, the ASP added.

Meanwhile, police on Monday conducted raids at three residential halls- Saddam Hossain Hall, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall and Lalon Shah Hall of IU but found no arms or illegal materials from there.

Nor was any individual picked up by the police, ASP Azad Rahman told UNB.
