The final round and prize giving ceremony of a spelling contest organised by Stamford English Language Forum (SELF) was held at its Siddheswari campus auditorium in the city recently.

Amitav Sikder of Batch 65 became champion in the contest while Asma Abdur Rahim of Batch 63 became runner-up and Sayma Nasrin of Batch 60 finished third, said a press release.

Around 40 students from different batches participated in the contest, with 11 of them qualifying for the final round.

Sheikh Nahid Neazy, chairman of the university's Department of English, handed over the prizes and certificates to the winners and the finalists of the contest.

Minhajul Abedin, chief coordinator of SELF, and Aleeya Tamzida, an assistant professor, were also present on the occasion.
