Atiur made DU Bangabandhu Chair professor

Atiur Rahman, former Bangladesh Bank governor and an honorary professor of the Development Studies department at Dhaka University (DU), has been appointed as the Bangabandhu Chair professor of the university for the next one year, reports UNB.

DU vice-chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman appointed him at a syndicate meeting held on Wednesday, said a DU press release on Thursday.

Aitur was appointed to the post to conduct research on 'Bangabandhu and Bangladesh' during the tenure. Earlier, a higher selection body of DU suggested his name for the post.

Prof Atiur joined the DU Development Studies department as a professor in 2006 and served as the 10th governor of Bangladesh Bank from 2009 to 2016.
