The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) - the neighbouring frontier forces of Bangladesh and India - exchanged sweets to celebrate the Independence Day of Bangladesh on no-man’s-land along Bangladesh-India border near the Hili border outpost.

Before exchanging sweets, BGB company commander of its Hili camp, Abu Nasir, and assistant captain of BSF, Hashuni Kape, exchanged salutes around 10:00am Monday, according to the BGB officials.

Afterwards, the BGB commander handed a packet of sweets to his Indian counterpart marking our Independence Day and the BSF official reciprocated with another packet of sweets. They also hugged each other.

Female members of the forces were present there. Locals from both countries witnessed the programme.

BGB’s Abu Nasir and his Indian counterpart expressed hope that the relations between the two countries and its border security forces would be strengthened in the days to come through such programme.
