Banking commission soon

“I can’t take any decision about the constitution of banking commission till now. Yes, I most certainly consider something about it soon,” he told journalists after a pre-budget meeting with economists and professionals at the State Guest House Padma in Dhaka.

The finance minister said he is strongly favoured to form a banking commission for betterment of the country’s financial sector.

During the meeting, the economists and professionals gave a number of suggestions, including land management in rural area, increasing remittance inflow, ensuring quality education, accelerating the infrastructure development and increasing investment.

They also gave various suggestions on Value Added Tax (VAT) and income tax.

Muhith said the economists and professionals wanted to implement the new VAT and Supplementary Duty Act-2012 soon.

He also emphasized the need for encouraging the rural people to build high rise building as the land area has been reducing gradually.

Among others, Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr Quazi Khaliquzzaman and renowned economists and professionals were present during the meeting.
